New Technique by Judy Neimeyer

Join our Judy Neimeyer certified instructor, Lucille Amos, who can walk students through piecing together a Judy Neimeyer quilt with basic paper piecing methods.  Lucille is an amazing instructor who keeps students moving forward, no matter what level of quilter they happen to be.

This quilt took a year for Judy Neimeyer to design.  It comes with numerous color options.  The original fabrics that the quilt used will not be available in the shop, but we will be prepared with the other color schemes for students to follow to choose their own fabrics.

This Judy Neimeyer class will be presented a little differently than our past Judy Neimeyer classes. To make the class more accessible for everyone, each class will be priced, rather than the whole class being one cost.

This class will not be structured the same way that our Judy Neimeyer class have been in the past.  When you sign up for the class, you will sign up for each month separately, each class will be $60.  For the first class, please be sure you have fabric picked out and a color chart made of the fabrics you have selected.  Lucille will be willing to assist students in fabric selection at the shop and to help student through how to make your color chart.  At the close of each class, Lucille will go over what to have completed for the following month.  You will cut strips at home to be finished in class.

If you are searching for color inspiration, there are pictures on Quiltworx and Quiltster Market and Facebook for various color ways.  Lucille has color charts for students, if needed.

Quiltster is a subscription based online quilt planning tool for $10 a month and allows users to color a quilt (as many as you would like as long as you subscribe). Once you have designed your color way, this program allows you to print a fabric yardage chart and will help you with your color chart, as well. You can cancel at anytime, or keep your subscription as long as you would like.

For the Coral Reef class following is a partial schedule I am planning to follow:

1st class – Booklet 6 – Group A

2nd class – Booklet 5 – Group B

I will let you know in class how the following classes will fall as to which booklet.

Because of the way the pattern is written from the outside in the location of booklets

may be confusing at first.  When I did my sample, I constructed it from the inside out and

that way seems to be more logical to me.  The pattern is written from the outside in.

This is not a complicated quilt to construct, but there will be some sewing each month.

Prior to class you can get your papers and template layout sheets cut out and placed in

the proper bas as per your instructions.  Remember, do not cut right on the line for sewing

papers.  Cut 1/8” from the black line.  Same for template layout sheets.  Cut 1/8” from the

Suggest you use a notebook to keep all  of your instructions in by booklets.  I use a 3 ring

Binder with sheet protectors.

For the first class, swatch your booklet with  each fabric you will be using in Booklet 6 and

cut out your papers and place them in the proper bags.  We will do all cutting in class for

the first class.  After that, you will be able to do some cutting at home.
